Proctoring

If you are a neurosurgeon seeking to treat patients at the Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Center, there are specific credentialing requirements you will need to fulfill.

Neurosurgeons will be granted authority to treat patients at the Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Center when the Medical Director certifies that they have met the traditional Medical Staff credentialing and criteria requirements. In the case of a physician whose practice is primarily based at an institution other than Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, the Medical Director must also certify that he/she have been made sufficiently familiar with the hospital’s facilities and resources so as to be able to properly care for their patients admitted as inpatients following treatment at the Gamma Knife Center.

Following a twelve-month Provisional Staff appointment, Courtesy Staff status can be granted to practitioners whose activity at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center will be essentially limited to Gamma Knife admissions. In addition, "Temporary" or "Provisional" status can be granted to physicians undertaking clinical training at the Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Center so that they may admit patients for whom they are responsible.

For specific requirements (including medical education, radiosurgical training, clinical radiosurgery experience, case selection, and skill maintenance), please contact the Northwest Hospital Gamma Knife Center at (206) 368-1626 or complete our physician information request form.
